Creating Dishes
The Food tab includes a "Create Dish" button that lets you combine multiple scanned items into a single dish. This is perfect for recipes and meals where you want to track all the ingredients together as one food item.
How It Works
- Tap the "Create Dish" button in the Food tab
- Scan multiple items - Use the barcode scanner to scan each ingredient you're using
- Specify serving size - Enter how many servings this dish makes
- Save the dish - The app stores all these ingredients together as a single "Dish" item
- Get a custom barcode - A custom barcode is created for this dish that you can scan in the future
Perfect for Complex Meals
This feature is especially useful for dishes where you combine multiple ingredients. For example, if you're making a meal in a crock pot where you throw a bunch of things in there, you can:
- Scan each ingredient as you add it
- Specify the total number of servings the dish makes
- Create a single food item made up of all the ingredients
This makes food tracking much easier and more accurate. Instead of logging each ingredient separately every time you eat the dish, you can just scan the custom barcode and log one serving (or however many servings you're eating).
Using Your Custom Dish
Once you've created a dish, you can scan its custom barcode just like any other food item. The macros will automatically populate based on the serving size you specify. If you're eating one serving, scan the barcode and log it. If you're eating two servings, scan it twice or adjust the serving size accordingly.
This feature helps you maintain accurate nutrition tracking for complex meals without having to manually calculate and enter all the individual ingredients each time.
